Connecting Sky Commander to Deep-Sky Planner
The Sky Commander digital setting circles device can be used with Deep-Sky Planner for the Push To operation, and for exporting and sending observing plans to the special object list in the Sky Commander. The connection from your computer to the Sky Commander can be wired (examples 1 and 2 below), or wireless (example 3 below). The wireless example includes a SkyFi unit supplied by Simulation Curriculum. See this article for information about connecting your computer wirelessly to SkyFi.
Notes:
- DB-9 is a serial connector with 9 pins
- RJ-11 is a 6 pin modular connector (ie, telephone jack)
- USB is a standard USB Type-A connector
- The 'DB-9 to RJ-11 cable' mentioned below is supplied by Sky Engineering with Sky Commander.
- The 'RJ-11 to DB-9 cable' mentioned below is supplied by Simulation Curriculum with SkyFi.
- The 'USB to DB-9 adapter' mentioned below is available from Keyspan and others.
