Export Data
The Export Data dialog box allows you to select locations, observations or equipment items to export to a file in one of several formats. Local horizon models attached to locations are exported.
Items Available for Export shows all items in the database that can be exported.
Items to Export List shows the items that will be exported to a file when you Save.
You select items from the Available list and add them to the Export list. Only the items in the Export list are exported to the file. When you finish placing items in the export list, press Save to choose an export format and a filename to receive the exported data.
Add...
▪All Items adds all items from the Available list to the Export list.
▪Selected Item adds the selected (highlighted) item from the Available list to the Export list. You can also drag an item from the Available list and drop it on the Export list.
Delete...
▪All Items clears the Export list.
▪Selected Item removes the selected (highlighted) item from the Export list.
Save writes all items in the Export list to a file and closes the dialog box. You can save the data in the Export list using several formats:
▪Equipment list (*.equip), Session list (*.obsses), or Observing log data (*.obslog) - formats native to Deep-Sky Planner. You should choose one of these formats if you intend to import the file back into Deep-Sky Planner. You can also view or print a file saved in this format from within the appropriate equipment, session or observation browser using View or Print in the browser.
▪Delimited Text Files (*.txt) - tab delimited text files can be opened with many spreadsheet programs.
▪HTML Files (*.htm, *.html) - a simple HTML file that may be viewed in a web browser. Technically, the format is XHTML.
▪MS Excel (*.xls) - a spreadsheet file formatted specifically for MS Excel. This format is compatible with Excel 2000 and later.
Additional format for exporting Observing log data from the Observation Browser or the Observing Project Manager:
▪OpenAstronomyLog 2.1 (*.xml) - also known as <OAL>, this is a non-proprietary data format for exchanging observations between applications. Please see http://groups.google.com/group/openastronomylog for information about this international effort that enables observers to exchange observations among applications. Software developers can read about the format definition at https://github.com/openastronomylog/openastronomylog.
Close closes the dialog box without saving any data to a file.
