Import Data
The Import Data dialog box allows you to select data items to import from a file into the Deep-Sky Planner database. Data items include locations, observing sessions, equipment and observations. Local horizon models attached to locations are imported.
When you import item(s) into the database using any of the methods below, you are asked to confirm that you want to add the item(s) to the database since the import takes place immediately following your confirmation.
Items Available for Import shows all items in the import file.
Items in Database shows all items in the database.
Import...
▪All Items imports all items from the 'Available' list into the database.
▪Selected Item adds the selected (highlighted) item from the 'Available' list to the database. You can also drag an item from the 'Available' list and drop it on the 'in Database' list.
Close closes the dialog box. Note that Close does not rollback any changes made to the database caused by this import activity.

Additional formats for importing Observing log data using the Observation Browser or the Observing Project Manager:
▪OpenAstronomyLog 2.1 (*.xml) - also known as <OAL>, this is a non-proprietary data format for exchanging observations between applications. Please see http://groups.google.com/group/openastronomylog for information about this international effort that enables observers to exchange observations among applications. Software developers can read about the format definition at https://github.com/openastronomylog/openastronomylog.
Additional Information:
Please see the appendix for detailed information about importing and exporting data.
OpenAstronomyLog is an XML schema definition for all kinds of astronomical observations. It is released under the under Apache Software License 2.0.
