Best Practices when activating Deep-Sky Planner 9

This article describes what you should do if you encounter activation problems with Deep-Sky Planner 9.

Best Practice:

Always download and apply the latest update to Deep-Sky Planner 9. You should do this:

You can determine whether an update is available by opening Help | Check for Updates in Deep-Sky Planner. (You must enter a valid Product Key during installation, or by using Help | Product Key from Deep-Sky Planner, or you will not be able to download an update.)

You can tell when you last checked for updates by opening the Help | About box. Look at the bottom of the light gray panel at the bottom of the box. You should see Last checked for updates on: <date & time>.

If an update is available when you Check for Updates, click Get Update in the dialog box. Save the update setup file to your local storage (hard drive) and run it.

If you still need support with this issue, you may be asked to provide this information:

What version do I have?

You can determine which version (Build number) you have by opening the Help | About box in Deep-Sky Planner. The Build number (e.g. Build 9.0.0.0) is located on the lower right of the photo.

Is my license activated?

You can also determine whether your software is activated by opening the Help | About box in Deep-Sky Planner. You should see 'This product is licensed to:' on the left side of the light gray panel at the bottom of the box, or **License not activated**.
