Weather Conditions
Deep-Sky Planner can display weather conditions on the Equipment/Conditions Bar. This data can be entered manually or read automatically from any weather device or service with an ASCOM driver.
Weather Data Source allows you to choose how weather data is acquired for display on the Equipment/Conditions Bar. There are 3 modes of weather data acquisition:
▪No Weather Data disables the display of weather data on the Equipment/Conditions Bar.
▪Enter Manually allows you to enter weather data for display on the Equipment/Conditions Bar. This selection is useful if you have a weather device that is not supported with an ASCOM driver. The units of measure are determined by the setting in Preferences. Temperature and Humidity may be entered only when Enter Manually is selected. Dew point is calculated and shown for temperature and humidity if possible; otherwise, No Dew Point is displayed.
▪Read from Weather Device allows Deep-Sky Planner to read a weather data from a connected weather device (or service) periodically as you observe, and display the result on the Equipment/Conditions Bar. This option is available only if there is a Favorite weather device or service selected, and it is configured to be read periodically in Weather Devices. Communication configuration settings, including the reading interval, are specified in Weather Devices.
Show Weather allows you to open a mini-browser to your favorite wearther information web page. A default (local) web page is displayed until you select another page in the mini-browser. The web icon indicates that a live Internet connection may be required for this function.
Press OK to accept the changes.
Press Cancel to discard the changes.
Important: Weather conditions change throughout an observing session. If you choose to enter weather data manually, it is recommended that you update the values periodically while you observe.
Important: If you select Read from Weather Device, a reading is attempted as soon as this dialog box is closed with OK. After the first successful reading is acquired, the system continues to read the device periodically as specified in Weather Devices. If a reading is attempted and it fails, the system will try again at the next scheduled reading time. After a third failed attempt, the system reverts this setting to No Weather Data.
What About?
If the Read from Weather Device selection is disabled, there is no weather device configured for periodic reading and selected as Favorite in the system. A weather device must be configured for periodic reading and marked Favorite to be used by the weather device reading function. Use Weather Devices to configure a weather device and mark it as Favorite.
