Var Period

Var Period is used to select objects with variability periods in days between Shortest and Longest, inclusively, to be included in the report.

You must uncheck Ignore to enter values into the Shortest or Longest boxes. If 0 is entered for Shortest, the search result includes all objects with periods shorter than Longest. If 0 is entered for Longest, the search result includes all objects with periods longer than Shortest. For example, if you want to select objects with variability periods longer than 10 days, you would enter 10 in Shortest and leave 0 in Longest. If 0 is entered in both, or if Ignore is checked, variability period is disregarded when searching for stellar objects to include in the report. If a period is entered that is too large for the selected catalog, it is changed to the maximum value for the catalog.

If the variability period for an object is missing in a catalog that has these values, it is left blank in the report. If you specify a range of periods for the search, by default, all objects with missing period values are excluded. To include these objects in the report, check Include missing periods.

What about?

The Var Period tab is disabled for catalogs that do not contain variability period data.
