Separation

Separation is used to specify the smallest and largest separation angles in arcseconds, inclusively, to be included in the search. Separation angles are presented in tenths of arc seconds. A range of separation values for the selected catalog(s) is displayed.

You must uncheck Ignore to enter values into the Smallest or Largest boxes. If 0 is entered for Smallest, the search includes all objects smaller than Largest. If 0 is entered for Largest, the search includes all objects larger than Smallest. For example, if you want to search all objects separated by more than 1 arc second, you could enter 1 in Smallest and leave 0 in Largest. If 0 is entered in both, or if Ignore separation range is checked, all separation angles are included in the search. If a separation is entered that is too large, it is changed to the largest separation for the selected catalog(s).

If the separation for an object is missing in a catalog that has separation values, it is left blank in the report. If you specify a range of separations for the search, by default, all objects with missing separation values are excluded. To include these objects in the report, check Include missing separations.

What about?

The Separation tab is disabled for catalogs that do not contain separation data.
