Localize

Localize tab page contains user specific data that are used when a plan is Run. These data are removed or overwritten when a plan is shared among different users of Deep-Sky Planner.

Calculate for Location is used to select a particular location on the earth's surface. A location is required to calculate the times and angles in the report. The location used in a new document is the Favorite Location as selected using the Location Manager. Note that when an existing document is opened, it retains the same location that was selected when the document was saved. You may select any location by highlighting its name in the drop down list.

Apply Local Horizon Model If Any allows you to apply a local horizon model to the calculation of rise and set times of selected objects if the selected location has a horizon model defined in it. If a local horizon model is applied and the selected location has a local horizon model defined for it, rise & set times are the approximate times at which an object rises above and sets beneath the local horizon model. If a local horizon model is not applied, or if the selected location has no horizon model defined, rise and set times are calculated for a perfectly flat horizon.

Always Show Apparent Coordinates allows you to display either the apparent equatorial coordinates of each object for the date & time for which the plan is Run, or the equatorial coordinates as recorded in the plan document.

Fetch Requested DSS Image If Not Stored Locally check this option if you want Deep-Sky Planner to attempt to download an image file from the default DSS server when it is missing from local storage. This option can create delays in plan viewing while the image file is being downloaded from a slow server.

Calculate for Date/Time allows you to select a date and time for which the plan is Run. Note that when the plan is run in Auto mode, the date and time are ignored and the system date and time are used. Some quick preset selections are available for Run:

Now disables the calendar for choosing a date and uses the present system date and time. The system date and time are assumed to local time.

On Date should be used when you want to specify a date or time other than Now. Choose the Date from the associated calendar.

At allows you to select any time of day on the date selected on the calendar.

Sunset computes and selects the time of sunset for the plan Location on the date selected on the calendar. If the sun does not rise locally, Always down is shown and you must choose a different date and/or time.

End Twilight computes and selects the end time of astronomical twilight for the plan Location on the date selected on the calendar.

Begin Twilight computes and selects the begin time of astronomical twilight for the plan Location on the date selected on the calendar.

Sunrise computes and selects the time of sunrise for the plan Location on the date selected on the calendar. If the sun does not rise locally, Always down is shown and you must choose a different date and/or time.

Auto Assign DSS Images allows you to assign a DSS image link for each object in the plan. The DSS server and survey defined in Preferences are used while the image size is adjusted to fit the size of the object. When an object size is unavailable, the default image size defined in Preferences is assigned. This function is useful when you wish to change the DSS image links in a plan because they refer to a different survey (e.g., blue vs. red) or default image size than those desired.
