Catalogs
Deep-Sky Planner's database contains 1.6 million objects from 28 deep-sky catalogs and 7 star catalogs. Catalog corrections have been applied using both SIMBAD (galactic deep-sky objects) and NED (extragalactic objects). Catalog Acronyms and object designations follow IAU Recommendations for Nomenclature (2006). BOCL, GGC, Caldwell, Herschel, Herschel II and Messier are exceptions.
Cross Refs are (internal) references taken from the catalog data that refer to other objects in the Deep-Sky Planner database. The internal cross reference is an equivalence relation, totaling 604,254 entries.
Other (external) references are also present in the database, including common names of deep-sky objects, Arabic names and Bayer/Flamsteed numbers of stars. These total 601,147 entries. Altogether, there are over 1.2 million internal and external cross references to the objects in the database.

Notes
The catalog of Globular Clusters has been updated and the catalog acronym has been changed from GCL to GGC. This change was made to prevent confusion between VII/103 Catalog of Galactic Globular Clusters (Monella, 1985) and the acronym GCl as used for VII/44B Star Clusters & Associations II. Globular Clusters (Ruprecht+ 1981). The GCl (Ruprecht) number is used in SIMBAD and other catalogs in this database, and is included as a common name in the database.
The catalog of Open Clusters has been updated and the catalog acronym has been changed from OCL to BOCL. This change was made to prevent confusion between B/ocl Optically visible open clusters and Candidates (Dias+ 2002-2015) which has no actual object numbering system, and the acronym OCl as used for VII/101A Star Clusters/Associations. III. Open Clusters (Ruprecht+ 1983). The OCl (Ruprecht) number is used in SIMBAD and other catalogs in this database, and is included as a common name in the database.
