Eyepiece Browser

Eyepiece Browser is one of the equipment browsers available in Deep-Sky Planner. To learn about equipment browsers in general, please see Equipment/Log Browsers.

Browsing Pane

Eyepieces shows a list of all eyepiece names in the database and their enabled(Enabled) or disabled(Disabled) status. Select an entry to edit, delete or view its properties. Double-clicking an item opens it in the property pane for editing.

Property Pane

Enabled allows you to choose whether the item is used actively or not.

Eyepiece Name allows you to specify a unique name for your eyepiece. This name appears in other lists in Deep-Sky Planner so the name should be descriptive. The name can contain up to 30 characters.

Focal Length allows you to specify the focal length in millimeters of the eyepiece. This value is used to compute the working magnification, true field and exit pupil for an instrument + eyepiece + barlow/compressor combination in a visual observation. This value is required.

Apparent Field allows you to specify the apparent field in degrees of the eyepiece. This value is used to compute the true field for a visual observation, but it is not required.

Notes allows you to record any comments about your device. This value is not required.

What About?

The Eyepiece Browser is designed for eyepieces of a specific focal length. If you have a zoom eyepiece, you can enter it with a name and focal length appropriate for the observational use.
