Camera Browser
Camera Browser is one of the equipment browsers available in Deep-Sky Planner. To learn about equipment browsers in general, please see Equipment/Log Browsers.
Browsing Pane
Cameras shows a list of all camera names in the database and their (Enabled) or (Disabled) status. Select an entry to edit, delete or view its properties. Double-clicking an item opens it in the property pane for editing.
Property Pane
Enabled allows you to choose whether the item is used actively or not.
Camera Name allows you to specify a unique name for your camera. This name appears in other lists in Deep-Sky Planner so the name should be descriptive. The name can contain up to 30 characters.
Camera Type allows you to specify whether the camera contains a CCD or CMOS detector, or it uses emulsion film.
Notes allows you to record any comments about your device. This value is not required.
For CCD/CMOS Type Cameras:
Array Width and Array Height allow you to specify the size of the detector in pixels. These values are required and are used to calculate Field of View.
Pixel Width and Pixel Height allow you to specify the size of each pixel in microns on the detector. These values are required and are used to calculate Image Scale and Field of View.
Binning allows you to specify the binning mode for the camera. It is required and is used to calculate Image Scale. You should create a separate camera item for each binning mode that you use. For example, you should have one camera defined for 1x1 (no) binning and another for 2x2 binning.
Show Image Info in a File allows you to display camera and image data in an image file. You can usually find the number of pixels (array size), pixel size and binning mode in these files. Hide Image Info in a File allows you to hide camera and image data.
For Film Type Cameras:
Negative Width and Negative Height allow you to enter the size of emulsion film in millimeters. For example, a 35mm camera's film dimensions are 35mm x 24mm. These dimensions are used to calculate Field of View. These values are not required.
