Tool Bar Manager

The Tool Bar Manager allows you to customize the tool bar on the desktop to suit your monitor size and your usage needs. You can also Restore the tool bar to its originally installed contents without reinstalling the software. The Tool Bar Manager is accessible by right-clicking the tool bar, or by selecting Tool Bar Manager from the Options menu.

You should browse through the list of Available Buttons so that you can choose the most important buttons for your use. You can delete any button, move any button and insert separators. Since there are dozens of buttons to choose from, you can elect to display Large Buttons that include a text caption along with an icon, or Small Buttons with only the icon. Flyover hints are available in either case to help you remember the function associated with a button on the tool bar.

The Tool Bar Manager

The Available Buttons list box contains all of the buttons available in the program. The Active Buttons list box shows the buttons presently on the tool bar, and the order in which they appear. The button at the top of the list appears at the left of the tool bar, and the last one appears at the right.

A button may be added to the tool bar by clicking it in the Available Buttons list box and dragging it to the Active Buttons list box. The cursor shows where in the list it will be placed when it is dropped. You can also add a button by highlighting an Available button and pressing the Add Selected Item button or by double-clicking an available button. The new button is inserted after the highlighted button in the Active list.

An active button may be moved in the list by clicking and dragging it to a new position in the list box. The cursor shows where in the list it will be placed when it is dropped.

A button may be deleted from the tool bar by clicking it in the Active Buttons list box and pressing Delete Selected Item. You can also delete an active button by highlighting it and pressing the Delete key. You can delete all buttons at once by clicking Delete All Items.

To restore the tool bar to its originally installed contents, press Restore. You are warned before your existing tool bar's contents are replaced.

Press OK to accept the changes to the tool bar, or Cancel to leave it unchanged.

Note on Drop Down Style Tool Bar Buttons

Several drop down buttons are available for use on the tool bar. These have a down arrow adjacent to the button. The drop down list allows you to open a document with a pre-selected catalog (or planet) while clicking the button itself opens a document with no pre-selection.

For example, the deep-sky document drop down tool bar button is shown in Figure 1 below. If you click the main portion of the button, a deep-sky document is opened with no catalog selected. If you click on the drop down arrow, a list of catalogs is displayed as shown in Figure 2. Clicking one of these drop down menu items opens a deep-sky document with the catalog pre-selected. In this example, a deep-sky document with the Abell Galaxy Cluster catalog is pre-selected.
