Ephemeris Date

Ephemeris Date

Date is used to select a date for each object's rise, set and transit time calculations, and Time is used for altitude and azimuth calculations (see below.)  You can sort reports by the calculated times and angles (see Working with Reports.) The ephemeris date is also used if you choose any of the Viewing Time search properties.

The calendar works for dates between January 1, 1753 and December 31, 9999 inclusively. This is a Windows limitation. If you enter a date outside of this range into the year/month/day boxes the calendar is disabled.  You may use the calendar or the year/month/day boxes to specify dates within the range.

Time is used to select a time for each object's altitude and azimuth calculations. You can use the Sky Position search properties to search altitudes or azimuths within a range.

Now sets the ephemeris date and time using the current PC system clock. The system clock is interpreted as the local time for the location selected in your document. If you have selected to use universal times in Preferences, the system clock time is converted to universal time using the time zone rule defined for the location selected in your document.
