Observing Log Report

The Observing Log Report shows stored and computed information about your observations. Dates and times are given in the format selected in Preferences.

Printed and exported documents contain a header section that on-screen documents provide in the settings pane of the document window. The header includes:

document name

owner of the observing log and search properties (can be omitted from printing by activating the Print Saver)

The Brief Observing Log Report (on-screen, printed and exported) is column-oriented while the Detailed Observing Log Report is section-oriented. The name of each data item included on these reports is listed below with a description. The Brief Observing Log report can be Customized. If you want your report to contain one-line per observation, you may need to turn off the Notes column.

Observer

First and last name of observer.

Loc Method

Method used to locate the object, one of: Unspecified, Manual, GoTo or DSC (Digital Setting Circles.)

Rating

A numerical ranking (0 to 10) assigned to the observation. You may choose how the number is interpreted (i.e., whether 10 is good or bad.)

Temp

Air temperature at the time and location of the observation in units specified in Preferences.

Humidity

Relative humidity at the time and location of the observation.

Projects

Observing project(s) to which the observation belongs. If the observation belongs to multiple projects, the project name is followed by an ellipsis (...). You may see the list of all projects that the observations belongs to by viewing the context menu.

Wind

Wind speed and direction at the time and location of the observation in units specified in Preferences.

Pressure

Atmospheric pressure at the time and location of the observation in units specified in Preferences.

Seeing

A numerical rating of seeing (0 to 10) at the time and location of the observation. You may choose how the number is interpreted (i.e., whether 10 is good or bad.)

Antoniadi

Antoniadi seeing scale for the time and location of the observation.

Pickering

Pickering seeing scale for the time and location of the observation.

Arcsec

Either the full width at half maximum seeing measurement or a visual estimate made by splitting double stars for the time and locatio of the observation.

Darkness

A numerical rating of transparency (0 to 10) for the time and location of the observation.. You may choose how the number is interpreted (i.e., whether 10 is good or bad.)
