DSS Download Status
DSS Download Status shows information about a Smart DSS Download™ job in response to the Get DSS Images button
When the DSS Download Status is displayed initially, it shows the number of 'images requested' (those that need to be downloaded) and the number of 'images already present' on the local storage drive. If you want to begin downloading images, click Start Downloading. If you don't want to download any images, click Close.
When you click Start Downloading, images that need to be downloaded are queued and the downloader begins processing the first image in the queue. Note that the button changes to Stop Downloading once the downloader begins processing requests.
As images are downloaded, the status box is updated to show:
▪when an image is being downloaded
▪when an image is saved to the local drive
▪when an error occurs while attempting to download an image
▪when the entire queue of download requests is finished processing
If an error occurs during an image download, the request is requeue for another attempt. Further attempts are retried up to 3 times before the downloader gives up on that image.
If you want to stop the downloader, click Stop Downloading. The downloader needs to arrive at a graceful stopping point before is stops processing requests so there may be a small delay between the time that you click Stop Downloading and the downloader actually stops.
When the downloader stops, either because it has finished processing the queue of requests or because you clicked Stop Downloading, the status box shows a summary of what the downloader has done, including
▪the number of images successfully downloaded and stored
▪the number of images that failed to be downloaded and stored
▪the number of images that were not attempted (for example because the Stop Downloads button was clicked)
Click Close to exit the DSS Download Status dialog box.
If you stop the downloader prematurely, you can reopen the DSS Download Status box again and see that the images you have already downloaded will not be attempted again. These are listed among the 'images already present' count that is displayed when the dialog box is opened. This technique is handy if you have a lot of images to download and you don't have time to download them all at one time.
